They’re so much fun with a decorative touch at a Halloween party.

Caramel Apple Martinis

Homemade Salted Caramel Sauce

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Melt butter over low heat in a medium-large saucepan. Add brown sugar to melted butter and turn heat up to medium. Whisk together just until sugar has dissolved. Watch closely. When the sauce starts to boil and gets foamy looking, allow to cook for about three-four minutes without stirring. Carefully add vanilla, salt, & cream. Remove from heat and stir. Set aside to cool until thick enough to coat the rim of the glasses.

Apple Martinis

Makes about 6 four-ounce servings.

  • 1 cup caramel vodka
  • 1 1/2 cups apple schnapps (or sour apple schnapps)
  • 1/2 cup sour mix
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon  fresh lemon juice (optional)
  • 1 recipe salted caramel sauce (recipe below) or store-bought caramel dip

If planning a day ahead, place vodka in the freezer for several hours or overnight. Place apple sour and sour mix in the refrigerator to chill as well.

Place all ingredients in a pitcher and stir well. Place the drink in the refrigerator to continue to chill while you make the caramel sauce.

Place 6 tiny martini glasses on a tray and in the refrigerator or freezer to chill. This will make it easier for the caramel sauce to stick to the glass.

After caramel sauce cools to at least room temperature, remove mini martini glasses from the refrigerator and drizzle sauce inside the glass. Carefully… no artfully, allow the caramel to drip down the insides of the glass a bit. Chill again until caramel around rims is firm. Leftover caramel sauce can be served with sliced apples that Have been soaked in vodka to help prevent browning.

Pour just over half a cup of the martini mixture into each glasses.

If you like, you can add food-safe eyeballs or little skeletons in/on your drinks for added Halloween fun. Because, well, who doesn’t like to be watched?
