When we drove up to this little place, I thought, “Oh. Barbecue.” But it was late & I had eaten dinner. Snacks. And everything a foodie visiting Portland could fit in. So the last thing I wanted was barbecue.  But then we walked inside.

As it turns out, we had just walked into, basically, the best of everything.

Garlic Almond Soup, of course.

Smoked Salmon Montadito (fancy fish on fancy bread). But, stay with me. Here’s where things went really crazy. And by things, I mean me.

Say whaaaa?? The Royale. Chocolate mousse blankets a crisp hazelnut praline filling and dacquoise base.

Basically, thebombdotcom.

The Concord Chocolate meringue, chocolate mousse, and chocolate ganache are hidden by sticks of meringue and a single red ribbon (Gluten-Free).

And the Queen of Sheba Cake. Moist chocolate almond cake with a bittersweet chocolate center. Warm slightly for a molten chocolate center.

Macarons. ‘Nuf said.

Jane Avril. Almond cake studded with raspberries and pistachios surrounds a raspberry mousse with pistachio cake and Kirsch.

The Pixie. Pistachios, almond paste, and raspberry jam are the main ingredients making up this layered concoction people can’t seem to get enough of.

Big  Cheryl’s “Ghetto” Cake. A dense, moist cake with a touch of orange and rum, and filled with pastry cream and mixed berries. You had me at “gâteaux”.

Shazam! Rich and creamy caramel mousse, salted almonds, dense chocolate almond cake, and more caramel.
Just when I thought I couldn’t love you anymore, Portland. Shazam!
