These spritz cookies are super easy to make and are always a crowd favorite!
Sprinkles, chocolate, cherries, butter. What’s not to love?
Spritz Cookies
Preheat oven to 350°F.
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons almond extract
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- Food coloring (optional)
- Candy sprinkles (optional)
- Maraschino cherries, drained, patted dry, & cut in half (optional)
- 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, melted for dipping (optional)
Place butter & sugar in a mixing bowl. Beat until light & fluffy.
Mix in the egg, almond extract, and salt.
Slowly mix in the flour.
Form cookie dough into logs that will fit into the spritz press and place one into the press. I recommend an electric press.
Choose your shape and put the spritz press together. Place the press opening directly onto the cookie sheet. Do not use parchment paper. Press cookies onto the tray. Top with sprinkles and/or cherries if you like.
Place cookies in the oven for about 5-7 minutes or until firm.
Remove baked cookies from the oven and dip or drizzle some in chocolate if desired.
