Steakhouse Pizza

Pizza Dough

  • 3/4 cup warm water (no hotter than 110°F degrees)
  • 2 teaspoons yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups flour

Place water & yeast in a mixing bowl. Let it sit for a few minutes until it gets a little bubbly to activate the yeast.

Place the bowl on the mixer stand and using the dough hook attachment, mix in the sugar, and olive oil. Then slowly add in up to 2 cups of flour. Mix in at medium-low speed. When everything is almost combined, add the salt and finish mixing until the dough comes together. Salt can kill yeast, so we add it late in the game so the other ingredients are a buffer. Add the last 1/2 cup of flour if needed so the dough begins to pull away from the bowl and instead “hug” the dough hook.

Remove from the mixer stand and cover the dough and let sit in a warm place for 30 minutes or until the dough has about doubled in size. If you’d like to make the dough the day before you need it just keep it in the fridge overnight to rise.

Time for steak. Preheat the oven to 400F.

Pizza Toppings

  • 2 pounds beef petite sirloin steak
  • Kosher sea salt
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Coarse ground pepper
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 sweet onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 1/2 cups pizza sauce
  • 12 ounces fresh ball of mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Steak sauce to taste
  • Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 6 green onions, diced

Salt steak well on both sides, press the salt into it and let it sit out on a plate for one hour. After it has had time to sit, rinse the salt off and pat steaks dry with some clean paper towels.

Pepper and grill both sides of steak over medium-high heat until browned in an oven-safe pan. Cut the butter into pieces & place on top of steaks. Place in the oven for 9-10 minutes. Set the steak aside to rest for about 15 minutes.

Then change the oven temp to 450°F and place the baking sheet or pizza stone in the oven to preheat it as well.

In a large pan, saute onions in olive oil until translucent.

Slice steak thinly.

Stir balsamic vinegar into pizza sauce.

Roll out pizza dough and carefully place it onto the hot baking sheet or pizza stone.

Spread the sauce over pizza dough.

Layer pizza with onions and then cheese and bake for 12-15 minutes or until crust is light golden brown and cheese is melted.

When it’s done, add steak and then fresh chopped green onions. Drizzle with steak sauce & top with parmesan cheese.

Cut into slices & serve.
